Jay Monico immigrated to the United States from El Salvador in August 1992 and became a United States citizen in November 2003. Growing up in Los Angeles County, Jay witnessed firsthand the importance of obtaining proper legal representation and recognized that those who lack adequate legal representation can face harsh and far-reaching consequences. Such consequences can affect their ability to become productive members of society and completely change the course of their lives.
Before becoming a lawyer, Jay enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He embarked on basic training for a few months after his 17th birthday, Jay faithfully fulfilled his duties as a United States Marine and received various awards, including the good conduct medal and an honorable discharge. He entered school in San Diego and opened his own practice upon graduation.
Seizing the opportunity to work in a law firm environment, concentrating on the practice of Criminal Defense, Jay joined one of the leading criminal trial law firms in San Diego County.
In his spare time, Jay volunteers as a youth soccer defensive coach. As a coach, Jay enjoys creating a positive learning environment, where children learn sportsmanship, teamwork, and responsibility.

Prior to his private practice, he worked as a Deputy District Attorney for the San Diego District Attorney's Office. In 2016, she was recognized by the California State Bar Association as a Certified Legal Specialist in Criminal Law. His experience, professionalism, and commitment to his clients has earned the respect and admiration of his peers.
